Ratchait 1 was the son of Pemmo 1 and Ratperga 1; brother of Ratchis 1 and Aistulf 1; the three brothers were all men of action ("viros strenuos"): Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 26. He was present with his father and brothers at the Lombard council under Liutprand 1 when Aistulf 1 was narrowly prevented from striking the king with his sword: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 51.
