Platon 5 was the bishop of Magydos in Pamphylia; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at three of the last four sessions (sessions fifteen, sixteen and eighteen, from 26 April to 16 September): Riedinger II 2. 672-828 (= Mansi XI 605-680). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council, he is styled Πλάτων ἐλάχιστος ἐπίσκοπος (so Riedinger II 2. 794, line 11 (= Mansi XI 652); Riedinger II 2. 828, line 13 (= Mansi XI 680) reads: ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος) πόλεως Μαγύδων: Riedinger II 2. 794, line 11, 828, line 13 (= Mansi XI 652, 680). The old Latin version printed in Riedinger calls his see "ciuitatis Magidorum": Riedinger II 2. 795, line 13 (= Mansi XI 651, 679). In the lists of those attending each session he is styled Πλάτωνος ἐπισκόπου Μαγίδων: Riedinger II 2. 672, line 3, 692, line 17, 762, line 28 (= Mansi XI 605, 616, 629). Presumably identical with Platon 8.
