Petros 20 was bishop of Sozopolis in Haemimontos; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at the last eight sessions (sessions eleven to eighteen, from 20 March to 16 September): Riedinger II 2. 404-825 (= Mansi XI 457- 673). His signature occurs twice in the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, once at Mansi XI 645 and again at Riedinger II 2. 796, line 7 (= Mansi XI 653), on each occasion in conjunction with his fellow-bishop from Haemimontos, Petros 19. At Riedinger II 2. 796, line 7 (= Mansi XI 653) he is styled Πέτρος ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Σωζοπολιτῶν πόλεως τῆς Ἑμιμοντίων ἐπαρχίας. The old Latin version of this, at Riedinger II 2. 797, line 7 (= Mansi XI 654), calls him "episcopus Sozopoleos ciuitatis Hemimontis regionis". In the subscription at Mansi XI 645, and in the signatures to the Council, he is styled Πέτρος ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Σωζοπόλεως Θρᾴκης: Riedinger II 2. 825, line 12, cf. II 2. 894, line 12 (which reads τῆς Θρᾳκῶν χώρας) (= Mansi XI 645, 673, cf. 693). In the lists of those attending each session he is styled Πέτρου ἐπισκόπου Σωζοπόλεως Θρᾴκης: Riedinger II 2. 404, line 21, 518, line 12, etc. (= Mansi XI 457, 520, etc.). He was among the signatories to the copy of the definition of the faith sent to the bishop of Rome, Agatho 1: Riedinger II 2. 894, line 12 (= Mansi XI 693). His name occurs in the list of bishops printed in Riedinger II 2. 738, line 7 (= Mansi XI 696), where his see is styled Σωζοπόλεως Θρᾴκης.
