Nordbert 1 was bishop of Regium; in 814 he and Richoin 1 were sent by the new ruler of the Franks, Louis (Lodoïchos 2), as envoys to the emperor Leo V (Leo 15) to renew friendship with him and to ratify the terms of the treaty: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 814. In 815 they returned from Constantinople with a copy of the treaty given to them by Leo 15; they reported that Constantinople had been shaken by an earthquake for five days in the previous August and many buildings both there and in other cities had collapsed and buried people: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 815.
