Lodoïchos 2 was described as imperator and princeps; he received pope Stephen V (IV) (Stephanos 90) in Francia (816/817) with all honours and granted all his requests including the release of the exiles who had attacked the previous pope Leo III (Leo 11) (cf. Paschalis 4 and Campulus 1); he also gave Stephanos 90 many gifts, including a villa: Lib. Pont. 99. 2. In 814 he sent envoys (Richoin 1 and Nordbert 1) to the emperor Leo V (Leo 15) to renew friendship with him and to ratify the terms of their treaty: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 814. In 815 they returned from Constantinople with a copy of the treaty given to them by Leo 15: Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 815.
