Nikephoros 49 was patrikios, basilikos protospatharios and genikos logothetes; owner of a seal dateable to the late eighth and early ninth centuries: Zacos and Veglery 2224 = Laurent, Corpus II, no. 302. The name and titles read: Νικηφόρῳ πατρικίῳ, βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ γενικῷ λογοθέτῃ. Zacos and Veglery suggest that this person may have been identical with the future emperor Nikephoros (Nikephoros 8) and perhaps with Nikephoros 7 and Nikephoros 51.
