Nashif 1 was a eunuch; he was sent by the caliph al-Mutawwakil 1 as envoy to the empress Theodora 2 to negotiate for peace and the exchange of prisoners, after the Roman conquest of the district of Anazarbos in the year 1172 Sel. (860/861); he set out to return with the prisoners but they were allegedly all murdered (see Nikolaos 84): Bar Hebr., p. 142.
