A layman, Moschos 3 was the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite), written between spring 815 and spring 816; he owned a property on which was an orphanage and where monks lived, and where he gave shelter to monks who were victims of the persecution under Leo V (Leo 15) and who were sick (ἐν τῇ Ἀβραμιαίᾳ σου καὶ εὐλογημένῃ ἑστίᾳ, διὰ τὸ καταγώγιον αὐτὴν εἶναι πολλῶν μοναχῶν καὶ τροφευτήριον ὀρφανῶν); he also owned a property at Prousa where Theodoros 15 found rest while en route to exile at Metopa (ἐκ τοῦ εὐλογημένου σου προαστείου τῆς Προύσης); he is addressed as θεοφιλέστατε δέσποτα: Theod. Stud., Ep. 88 (addressed Μόσχῳ λαικῷ). Brother of Eirene 15 and Kale 1, he is praised for his good deeds (μόσχος ὢν καὶ ὀνόματι καὶ πράγματι δι' εὐωδίαν τῶν δεξιῶν αὐτοῦ πράξεων): Theod. Stud., Ep. 211, cf. Epp. 88 (his unnamed sisters), 161 (their unnamed brother), 200 (their unnamed brother). He had died by 818: Theod. Stud., Epp. 161 (c. 816/818), 200 (c. 815/818?), 211(c. 815/818). He left the orphanage, with forty children in it, in the care of his sisters: Theod. Stud., Ep. 211.
