Marinos 23 was a komes of the Opsikion; owner of a seal dateable to the first half of the eighth century; he possibly had a family name beginning with the letters "Exar", but the interpretation of the last letters on the seal is not certain (see below): DOSeals III 39. 32 = Zacos and Veglery 2159. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with Μα - ρι - ν - ω in the corners. Rev.: κομη - τη του Ο - ψικιου τ - .εξαρ. The name and title perhaps read: Μαρίνῳ κόμητη τοῦ Ὀψικίου τ[ῳ τοῦ] εξάρχου. The interpretation of the end of the reverse ("the son of the exarchos) is highly speculative; see further DO Seals III, p. 67, note. Cf. also Marinos 12.
