Marinos 10 was a native of Ebissa in Paphlagonia; husband of Theoktiste 1; father of Theodora 2 (the future wife of the emperor Theophilos (Theophilos 5)); he held the military post of droungarios or, according to another version, tourmarches (γεννήτορα δὲ Μαρῖνον οὐκ ἄσημόν τινα ἢ ἰδιώτην τὴν τύχην, δρουγγάριον δὲ ἢ τουρμάρχην κατά τινας); he and his wife are described as piously educated and as venerators of icons: Theoph. Cont. III 5 (p. 89), cf. Zon. XV 26. 1 (well-born native of Paphlagonia, husband of Theoktiste 1 and father of Theodora 2). He was the brother of Manuel 6 (and was therefore of Armenian descent): Theoph. Cont. IV 1 (p. 148). He was father also of Kalomaria 1, Sophia 1, Eirene 4, Petronas 5 and Bardas 5.

Marinos 10 was the father (γεννήτορας ... πατέρα) of the empress (Augusta) Theodora 2: Scyl., p. 52, lines 67-68. He came from the country of Paphlagonia (ἐκ τῆς χώρας τῶν Παφλαγόνων): Scyl., p. 52, line 67. His wife was Theoktiste 1 (γεννήτορας ... μητέρα): Scyl., p. 52, lines 68-69. Marinos 10 and Theoktiste 1 were the parents of Theodora 2: Scyl., p. 52, line 68 (γεννήτορας). Both Marinos 10 and Theoktiste 1 were noted for their piety (εὐσεβείᾳ), Scyl., p. 52, line 69; and were not among those who refused to venerate icons (τὴν τῶν σεπτῶν εἰκόνων προσκύνησιν οὐκ ἐξαρνουμένους): Scyl., p. 52, lines 70-71. Marinos 10 is described as a man of no insignificance (οὐκ ἄσημον ἄνδρα): Scyl., p. 52, line 68.
