Leontios 4 was a deacon and monk of the monastery of Cellae Novae in Rome; in 681 he attended the final session of the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) (on 16 September); in the list of those present at the session he is styled Λεοντίου τοῦ εὐλαβεστάτου διακόνου καὶ μοναχοῦ μονῆς ἐπιλεγομένης Κέλλαι Νόβων, τυγχανούσης ὁμοίως ἐν τῇ αὐτῇ πρεσβυτέρᾳ Ῥωμῃ: Riedinger II 2. 764, lines 17-18: (= Mansi XI 629).
