Leo 24 was given the name Kastor (Λέων ὁ Κάστωρ) in Leo Gramm. 246, 247, Georg. Mon. Cont. 832, 833, Ps.-Symeon 679, 680, in error for his title κυαίστωρ. In 866 (26 May) he was kuaistor and asekretis and was present at the ceremony at which the emperor Michael III (Michael 11) crowned Basilios 7 as co-emperor; Leo 24 read out the statement praising Basilios 7 and Symbatios 1 for saving the life of the emperor when threatened by the plotting of the Kaisar Bardas (Bardas 5): Theod. Mel. 172 (Λέων ὁ κοιαίστωρ καὶ ἀσηκρῆτις), Symeon Slav. 108, Leo Gramm. 246, Georg. Mon. Cont. 832 (both read: Λέων ὁ Κάστωρ καὶ ἀσηκρῆτις), Ps.-Symeon 679 (Κάστορος ἀσηκρῆτις). Subsequently Leo 24 went to Nikomedeia and entered a monastery; there he fell down a well and was drowned; he was buried at Nikomedeia: Leo Gramm. 247, Georg. Mon. Cont. 833, Ps.-Symeon 680 (all read: Κάστωρ ὁ ασηκρῆτις, or similar). Perhaps to be identified with Leo 165.
