Eldest son of Basilios 7; he died suddenly soon after Photios 1 regained the patriarchate in 877: Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 573A-B He was the son of Basilios 7 and Eudokia Ingerina (Eudokia 2) and the brother of Leo 25, Alexandros 10 and Stephanos (II PBE): Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 565D He was canonised by Photios 1, allegedly to please the emperor Basilios 7: Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 573B. He died on 3 September 879: cf. Theoph. Cont. 345 and see PBE} II. See further Theoph.
