An iconoclast, Konstantinos 139 was the bishop of Nikomedeia; probably in 762, he was one of the group of prominent iconoclasts, lay and clerical, whom the emperor Constantine V (Konstantinos 7) sent with Kallistos 8 and Kombokonon 1 to interview Stephen the Younger (Stephanos 2), then held in custody at Chrysopolis; he was then aged thirty, full of self-confidence but given to foolish behaviour; during the interview with Stephanos 2, who was on the floor, Konstantinos 139 began to kick him and had to be restrained by the senior lay members of the group: Vita Steph. He was presumably born in 732.
