Komitas 1 was bishop of Amastris in Paphlagonia; in 681 he was represented at the final session of the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) (on 16 September) by the deacon Eirenarchos 1: Riedinger, pp. 760-827 (= Mansi XI 627-678). In the lists of those present at the session he is styled Κομιτᾶ ἐπισκόπου Ἀμάστριδος: Riedinger, p. 760, line 34 (= Mansi XI 628). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council he is styled Κομιτᾶ τοῦ ἁγιωτάτου μου ἐπισκόπου: Riedinger, p. 792, line 15, p. 827, line 28 (= Mansi XI 652, 677) (and cf. Eirenarchos 1).The reason why he did not attend in person is not recorded.
