Eirenarchos 1 was deacon of the Church of Amastris in Paphlagonia, serving under the bishop Komitas 1; in 681 he attended the final session of the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) (on 16 September) as the representative of Komitas, and on his behalf signed the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and the Acts of the Council: Riedinger, pp. 760-827 (= Mansi XI 628-677). In the list of those attending the session he is styled Εἰρηνάρχου τοῦ εὐλαβεστάτου διακόνου, ἐπέχοντος τὸν τόπον Κομιτᾶ ἐπισκόπου Ἀμάστριδος: Riedinger, p. 760, line 34 (= Mansi XI 628). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith and to the Council he is styled
