Ioannes 455 was metropolitan bishop of Nikomedeia, he was the addressee of a letter from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1), written between 859 and 867, possibly between April 862 and April 866; he is criticised by Photios 1 for his foolishness: Photius, Ep. 17 (I 68 Laourdas-Westerink) (addressed Ἰωάννῃ μητροπολίτῃ Νικομηδείας). He was soon afterwards succeeded by Georgios 223, and presumably either died or was dismissed by Photios 1. Possibly identical with Ioannes 181.
