Ioannes 444 was patrikios and sakellarios; he was the addressee of a letter from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1), praising him for his virtue but warning him to beware of demons and of the envy of men; he was probably the son of Democharis 2: Photius, Ep. 49 (addressed Ἰωάννῃ πατρικίῳ καὶ σακελλαρίῳ τῷ κατὰ τὸν Δημόχαριν).
