Inger 2 was metropolitan bishop of Nikaia and an iconoclast; his imminent death was foretold by St Ioannikios (Ioannikios 2) who sent Basilios 119 to warn him and to advise him to repent, leave his see and make his peace with God; Inger 2 refused, ignoring the warning, and died on his episcopal throne fifteen days later, unrepentant; at the same moment Ioannikios 2 allegedly told Eustratios 19 that he had just died: Sabas, Vita Ioannicii 30 (τὸν μητροπολίτην Νικαίας ... τὸν Ἴγγερ), Petrus, Vita Ioannicii 38 (τὸν μητροπολίτην τῆς Νικαίας τὸν ἐπιλεγόμενον Ἴγγερ). He was noted for his stern severity (τὸ αὐστηρὸν τοῦ ἀνδρός): Petrus, Vita Ioannicii 38. These events probably occurred in 825; cf. Ioannikios 2 and Eustathios 46.
