Grauso 1 was a Lombard, citizen of Brixia and brother of Aldo 1; Grauso 1 and his brother Aldo 1 with many other Lombards, supported Alahis 1 in his rebellion against king Cunincpert 1: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 38 ("adnitentibus Aldone et Grausone Brexianis civibus"). Later they turned against Alahis 1 after discovering that he was plotting against them and they conspired with others to restore Cunincpert 1; they induced Alahis 1 to leave Ticinum and then visited Cunincpert 1 in his refuge on lake Comacinum and persuaded him to return to Ticinum to resume the throne: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 39. Later Cunincpert 1 plotted against them but they were miraculously forewarned and took refuge in the basilica of Romanus at Ticinum; Cunincpert 1 then changed his mind and they were henceforth treated as loyal subjects: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 6. Cunincpert 1 was king from 678/679 to 688/689.
