Georgios 232 was apo hypaton and genikos kommerkiarios of the apotheke of Asia, Caria, Lycia, Rhodes and Chersonesos; owner of a seal dateable to 695/696 and 696/697: DOSeals II 65.1 = Zacos and Veglery 189 (dated under Leontios 2). Obv.: Justinian II (Ioustinianos 1) standing, indiction dates 8 and 9 (η, θ), and a circular inscription reading: Γεωργίου ἀπὸ ὑπάτων. Rev.: αποθηκ - ης Ασιας Κα - ριας Λυκιας - οδου και της - Χερονη - σου. On the date, see below. The same person owned another seal, dateable probably between 691/692 and 695/696: DOSeals II 69.1 = Zacos and Veglery 192 (dated under Leontios 2). Obv.: Justinian II (Ioustinianos 1) standing, indiction number indecipherable (possibly ε or θ), with part of a circular inscription, reading: Γεω..ων. Rev.: γε - νικου κο - μμερκιαρ - υ απο..κ. - Καρηας - ..υκ... The name and titles read: Γεω[ργίου ἀπὸ ὑπάτ]ων [καὶ] γενικοῦ κομμερκιαρ[ίο]υ ἀπο[θή]κ[ησ] Καρήας [καὶ Λ]υκ[ίασ]). The dating of Zacos and Veglery, under Leontios 2, is corrected by Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DO Seals II, p. 170. Cf. also Georgios 113 and Georgios 247.
