Galla 1 was dux of Venetia in the middle of the eighth century; he blinded his predecessor, Deusdedit 3, at the fort of Brundulus, and held office for one year, when he himself was attacked and blinded by the Venetici; he was succeeded by Dominikos 4: John the Deacon, Cron. Ven., p. 98 ("et illic a quodam infideli, Galla nomine, eius (i.e. Deusdedit 3) avulsi sunt oculi, ipsiusque ducatum auferens possessorque eius unius anni spatio fuerat"), cf. Chron. Alt., p. 116 ("Galla dux ducavit ann. I et menses II").
