Dominikos 4, known as Monegarius and a native of Malamocco (Metamaucensis), was appointed dux of Venetia by the Venetici after the overthrow of Galla 1 ("loco cuius Dominicum, cognomento Monegarium Metamaucensem, ducem sibi fecerunt"); in each year during his period in office the Venetici appointed two tribuni to govern them; after eight years Dominikos 4 was overthrown and blinded by a conspiracy of the Venetici: John the Deacon, Cron. Ven., p. 98, cf. Chron. Alt., p. 116 ("Dominicus dux ducavit ann. VIII"). He was succeeded by Maurikios 10: Chron. Alt., p. 116, John the Deacon, Cron. Ven., p. 98. The date was in the mid eighth century.
