Exilaratos 2 was the father of Adrianus (Hadrianos 6); he was a dux, probably of Naples; while Italy was in revolt against the emperor Leo III (Leo 3) on account of the orders banning the use of images, Exhilaratus and his son held Campania for the emperor and against the pope; however they were pursued, captured and executed by the Romans: Lib. Pont. 91. 18 ("Exhilaratus dux, deceptus diabolica instigatione, cum filio suo Adriano, Campaniae partes tenuit, seducens populum ut oboedirent imperatori et occiderent pontificem"). The date was between 727 and 731 (after the issue of the order against images, probably in 727, and before the death of pope Gregory II (Gregorios 72) in 731). Since he was a dux in Campania, he was probably the dux of Naples, while Petros 67 was the dux of Rome.
