Demetrios 40 was the father of Stephanos 161 and is recorded on his son's seals, which are dateable to the seventh century: Zacos and Veglery 1017a (the names read: Στεφάνῳ υἱῷ Δημητρίου) and 1017b (the text reads: Θεοτόκε βοήθει τοῦ δούλου σου Στεφάνου υἱοῦ Δημητρίου).
