Demetrios 33 was the son of Ioannes spatharios (Ioannes 437); at his baptism an icon of St Demetrios was used in place of a sponsor and he was named after the saint: Theod. Stud., Ep. 17. The date was probably after the persecution of icon veneration was resumed in 815, i.e. 815/826.
