Demetrios 4 was abydikos of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals I 18.1 = Zacos and Veglery 1851. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with .ω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Δ[ημ]ητρίῳ ἀβ[υ]δικ[ῷ] Θεσ[α]λονίκ[ης ]. Nesbitt and Oikonomides (DOSeals I, p. 51), on epigraphic grounds, date this seal later than those owned by Demetrios 5 and therefore reject the identification of the two men. On the abydikos, see Nesbitt and Oikonomides, DOSeals I, p. 50 with references.
