Charibert 1 was king of the Lombards; he became king in 652 and reigned at Ticinum for nine years, until 661; he was the father of Godepert 1 and Perctarit 1, to whom he left his kingdom: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. IV 51 (Aripert) , and see PLRE III, p. 284 (Charibertus 2). He also left a daughter, Anonyma 48: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. IV 51, V 1, 33. He built a basilica of the Saviour at Ticinum, in which the future kings, his son Perctarit 1 and his grandson Cunincpert 1, were buried: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. V 37, VI 17. King Aripert II (Aripert 1) was also buried there: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 35. He was king Aripert I; for Aripert II, see Aripert 1.
