Benerios 2 was a native of Nova Venetia and the son of Transmundus (Transmoundos 1); he was patriarch of Grado for twenty four years eight months; he succeeded Fortunatus (Phortounatos 2) and was succeeded by Victor 7: Chron. Alt., p. 125 ("Venerius patriarcha, qui fuit nove Venecie genitus, pater autem Transmundus appellatus; qui vixit in patriarchatu ann. XXIIII, mens. VIII"). His period in office was perhaps from c. 824 to c. 848, according to the lengths of tenure recorded in the Chronicon Altinate.
