A Stoudite monk, Basilios 133 was the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) between 821 and 826; Basilios 133 was a spiritual son of Theodoros 15: Theod. Stud., Ep. 438 (addressed Βασιλείῳ υἱῷ πνευματικῷ).

Basilios 133 is mentioned in four further letters of Theodoros 15, with dates between 809 and 818: Theod. Stud., Ep. 41 (a. 809/811), Ep. 48 (a. 810/811), Ep. 269 (a. 815/818), Ep. 327 (a. 815/818). During all this period Basilios 133 was closely associated with the Stoudite monk Gregorios 139: Theod. Stud., Ep. 48, 269, 327, 438. During the Moechian schism (in 809/811) Basilios 133 and Gregorios 139 were among the monks who were persecuted and imprisoned: Theod. Stud., Ep. 48. He was one of the monks at this time whom Theodoros 15 proposed to refer to only by code letters, for security reasons: Theod. Stud., Ep. 41.

During the persecution under Leo V (Leo 15) Basilios 133 and Gregorios 139 appear to have weakened and for a time abandoned the iconophile cause: Theod. Stud., Ep. 269 (τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ μου Βασιλείου τοῦ ἠγαπημένου), 327. Basilios 133 had apparently returned to the cause when Theodoros 15 wrote to him during the reign of the emperor Michael II (Michael 10); Theodoros 15 had hoped to see Basilios 133 and Gregorios 139 in person but was disappointed and so wrote to them instead; Basilios 133 is described as a καλὸς καθηγητής and was now apparently the hegoumenos of an unnamed monastery; Basilios 133 was responsible for the care of the monks (τῆς τῶν ἀδελφῶν ἐπιμελείας) and Theodoros 15 sent greetings to him and to his fellow-monks (τῶν μετά σου ἀδελφῶν καὶ τέκνων); Basilios 133 is addressed as τέκνον ἠγαπημένον: Theod. Stud., Ep. 438.
