Basilios 13 was known as "Pezos" from his custom of walking rather than riding and because he had supposedly never trodden on any living creature; he was the bishop of Zygos (probably in Bithynia, Asia or Phrygia; see Laurent, La Vie merveilleuse, p. 81, n. 5) who ordained Peter of Atroa (Petros 34) as a priest, on instructions from the patriarch of Constantinople, Tarasios 1: Vita Petr. Atr. 6, pp. 81-85, Vita Petr. Atr. Retractata 11-12 (pp. 87-8, 90-1). The date was between 794 (when Petros 34 became a monk) and 805 (when Paulos 25 died).
