Basilios 2 was one of the closest disciples (συνέκδημοι) of the Paulician leader Sergios 1; he lived first at Argaoun, near Melitene, and later at Tephrike in Armenia; Basilios 2 and Zosimos 2 met Peter of Sicily (Petros 1) at Tephrike in 869 and gave him much of the information about the beliefs of the Paulicians which he incorporated in his report to the emperor and included in the so-called Historia Chreiodes: Peter of Sicily, 182,188.
