Bardas 22 was a basilikos spatharios and topoteretes of the theophylakton basilikon Opsikion; owner of a seal dateable between the mid eighth century and the mid ninth: Zacos and Veglery 1762. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Χριστὲ βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Βαρδα - β' σπαθ' και τ - ωποτ' τ - ου θ' β' Ο - ψικιου. The name and titles read: Βάρδᾳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ τοποτηρητῇ τοῦ θεοφυλάκτου βασιλικοῦ Ὀψικίου. NB The name is read as "Sergios" by the editors of DOSeals III (p. 72); see now Sergios 91.
