Bagrat 1 was the son of Ashot (Asotes 2), Bakrat (sic) was the patrikios of Armenia; in AH 237 (July 851/June 852) he visited Yusuf ibn Muhammad (Yusuf 1) to discuss peace but was seized and sent in fetters to Baghdad: Bar Hebr., p. 142.
