Athanasios 12 was a chartoularios; owner of two seals dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 3007a and 3007b. Obv.: circular inscription reading +Αγια Τριας ὁ Θ[εο]ς η[μω]ν, and a cruciform monogram of βοηθει in the centre with a star in each corner. Rev.: cruciform monogram of τω σω δουλω with a star in each corner and a circular inscription of +Αθανασιω χαρ[τουλ]αριω. The full text reads: Ἁγία τριὰς ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Ἀθανασίῳ χαρτουλαρίῳ. To judge by the similarity of their seals, this man was probably the same person as Athanasios 13. If so, he was probably chartoularios first and later held the dignity of hypatos.
