Archelaos 1 was a basilikos spatharios and protonotarios of the metaton of Asia; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 3077A. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Αρχε - .αω β' σπαθ' και - α' νοτα' τ' μητ' - Ασηας. The name and titles read: Ἀρχελάῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ πρωτονοταρίῳ τοῦ μητάτου Ἀσίας. He was a subordinate of the logothetes of the agelai; see Oikonomides, Listes, p. 338.
