Ioannes 419 was an official of the metata, probably dioiketes of the metata; owner of two seals dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2010, Laurent, Corpus II, no. 593. The name and title on both seals probably read: Ἰωάννῃ διοικητῇ τῶν μητάτων. The abbreviation for the first title is illegible, and the title may have been ἐπὶ τῶν μητάτων or πρώτῳ τῶν μητάτων. Zacos and Veglery were unsure, as was Laurent, but at Corpus II, no. 593, Laurent decided that Δ' (for διοικητῇ) was the most probable.
