According to Photius, Ep. 1, Apolinarios 1 was the patriarch of Alexandria at the time of the Council of Nikaia (in 787), at which he was represented by Thomas 4: Photius, Ep. 1, lines 374ff. (the three eastern patriarchs are named as Apolinarios 1, Theodoretos 1 and Elias 12). Elsewhere the name of this patriarch is given as Politianos, cf. Politianos 1.
