Aphrodisios 1 was a Stoudite monk, the addressee of two letters from Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15), written in 816 and 817/818; Aphrodisios 1 was in exile and had suffered beatings for his support for icons; in both letters he is encouraged to remain steadfast; he is addressed as τὸ ἐμὸν τέκνον or similar: Theod. Stud., Ep. 248 (M/L 816), Ep. 345 (L 817/E 818) (both letters addressed Ἀφροδισίῳ τέκνῳ). He was one of a group of ten monks associated with Euthymios 15 who had suffered beatings and persecution: Theod. Stud., Ep. 181 (written in 816; addressed Εὐθυμίῳ καὶ τοῖς λοιποῖς τέκνοις).
