Antonios 19 was a monk of the monastery of Stoudios at Constantinople, he was a disciple of Nikolaos 26; some people gave him the nickname Mauros, apparently because he was dark-skinned; he suffered for years from bleeding, which the doctors were unable to cure; finally, the then hegoumenos of the monastery, Hilarion 4, made him spend the night in the cell formerly occupied by Nikolaos 26; during the night he had a vision of Nikolaos 26 and was cured, and lived on after this for another forty years: Vita Nic. Stud. 924B-C (Ἀντώνιος τοὔνομα, ὁ τῷ συμβεβήκοτι παρωνύμως τῇ προσηγορίᾳ Μαῦρος παρά τισιν ἐπονομαζόμενος). Since Nikolaos 26 died in 868, Antonios 19 was alive and a monk before then and lived on into the tenth century, to at least 908.
