Anonymus 617 was a poor man who carried a letter from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1) to the quaestor Basilios 120 some time between 859 and 867; according to Photios 1 he would show whether or not rumours about the avarice of Basilios 120 were true or false (Anonymus 617 was presumably hoping to receive benefits from Basilios 120): Photius, Ep. 154 (II 9 Laourdas-Westerink).
