Anonymus 320 was the hegoumenos of the monastery of St Erasmus at Rome; probably at investigations which were conducted in 800, he gave evidence that, after the assaults made on pope Leo III (Leo 11) in April 799 by Paschalis 4, Campulus 1 and others, he had been summoned by Paschalis 4, Campulus 1 and Mauros 6 and forced to accompany other conspirators to the monastery of St Silvester, where Leo 11 was confined, and to convey the pope secretly and by night, under close guard, to his own monastery of St Erasmus, where it was intended to keep Leo 11 safe from rescue by his supporters: Lib. Pont. 98. 13 ( sicut ipse eguminus monasterii sancti Herasmi professus est ).
