Anonymus 253 was probably the strategos of Thrace (he is called τὸν ἀρχισατράπην τῆς Θρᾴκης); he received from the soldiers under him a report that the soldier Stephanos 83 was an idolater and promptly sent him to the emperor (Constantine V, i.e. Konstantinos 7): Vita Steph. Iun. 154.6-7 (1156B). The date was 762/763.
