Anonymus 236 was a precentor (prior cantorum) at Rome; he was entrusted with training Sergios 30 (the future pope Sergius I) as a singer: Lib. Pont. 86. 1 (priori cantorum pro doctrina est traditus). Sergios 30 arrived in Rome under pope Adeodatos 3 (672- 676) and became a priest under pope Leo II (Leo 16, 682-683).
