Anonymus 228 was a member of the staff serving under the papias of the palace in 820; during the night of Christmas Eve he alone was awake and observed the emperor Leo V (Leo 15) entering the room of the papias and seeing with anger that the papias was sleeping on the floor and allowing Michael 10 to sleep on his couch: Zon. XV 21. 29 (εἷς δέ τις τῶν τοῦ παπίου). See also Anonymus 31 and Anonymus 186.
