Anonymus 149 was a basilikos strator and domestikos of the Optimatoi; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century (see below): Schlumberger, Sig., p. 244, no. 1 (facsimile). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: ... - ω β' στρ' - και δομε' τ - ον Οπτι - ματ'. The name and titles read: ...ω βασιλικῷ στράτορι καὶ δομεστίκῳ τῶν Ὀπτιμάτων. The restoration of στρ as στρατηγὸς by Schlumberger is certainly an error; see Anonymus 453 and cf. Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 99. Schlumberger dates the seal to the ninth century, but Seibt, relying on the facsimile, prefers an eighth century date; see Winkelmann, loc. cit.
