Anonyma 30 was a lady of good family and character; she was a widow living in Adrianopolis with her daughter (Pankalo 1); according to Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus, she was rumoured to be descended from the emperor Constantine the Great (φήμη γάρ τις διέτρεχεν οὐ παντελῶς ἀμυδρὰ ἐκ τοῦ μεγάλου Κωνσταντίνου ἕλκειν αὐτὴν τὴν συγγένειαν). Her daughter married the son of Maiktes 1 (Anonymus 232) and had a son, the future emperor Basil I (Basilios 7): Theoph. Cont. V 3. The details of the pedigree of Basil I recorded by his grandson Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus are sometimes apocryphal, but the more recent details may be correct; however, the connection with Constantine the Great is doubtless apocryphal, invented to enhance Basilios 7's pedigree.
