Anna 3 was the wife of Kosmas 13: Vita Petr. Atr. 2 (p. 69). They lived in the village of Elaia, in Asia: Vita Petr. Atr. 2 (p. 69) (near the mouth of the Caicos). She bore three children: two sons, Theophylaktos (later called Petros, i.e. Petros 34, St Peter of Atroa) and Christophoros (later called Paulos, i.e. Paulos 26) and a daughter, whose name is unknown (Anonyma 12): Vita Petr. Atr. 2 (p. 69), 4 (p. 75), 17 (p. 107), 18 (pp. 109-111), 44 (p. 159). The eldest, Petros 34, was born in 773; see Laurent, La Vie merveilleuse p. 26. After a long period without children, she prayed for a child and then, when Petros 34 was born, offered him to the Church in fulfilment of her vow: Vita Petr. Atr. 2 (pp. 69-71). Mentioned when Petros 34 was eighteen (in 791): Vita Petr. Atr. 4 (p. 75). In the reign of Leo V (Leo 15), after her second son Christophoros (Paulos 26) went to join Petros 34 as a monk, she pined and fell gravely ill; she summoned her two sons back to her, and asked to be made a nun; the request was granted by Petros 34 and Anna 3 died shortly afterwards and was buried by her sons with all honour: Vita Petr. Atr. 18 (pp. 109-111).
