Andreas 31 was bishop of Praeneste; sent with Iordanes 3, bishop of Albanum, by pope Stephen IV (III) (Stephanos 84) with a message for their safety to Christophoros 26 and Sergios 53: Lib. Pont. 96. 30 ("Andream episcopum Penestre"). The date was c. 771/772. Later, when the Lombard king, Desiderius (Desiderios 3), was marching on Rome, pope Hadrian (Hadrianos 1) drew up an anathema and sent Andreas the bishop of Praeneste ("Andream Penestrem") with bishops Eustratius of Albanum (Eustratios 11) and Theodosius of Tibur (Theodosios 42) to warn Desiderios 3 never to enter Roman territory without Hadrianos 1's permission for fear of the anathema; the king withdrew: Lib. Pont. 97. 25.
