Amr 4 was an arab general, said in some accounts (not specified by Tabari) to have led the winter campaign into Byzantine territory in AH 55 (Dec. 674/Nov. 675); three others were named as the leader in other accounts, viz. Sufyan b. Awf al-Azdi (Sufyan 1), `Abdallah b. Qays al-Fazari (Abdullah 2) and Malik b. `Abdallah al-Khath`ami (Malik 4): Tabari XVIII, p. 180. Amr 4 is also mentioned as an army commander in Iraq in 663/664 (AH 43) in the struggle against the Kharijites: Tabari XVIII, p. 68 (named as `Amr b. Muhriz b. Shihab al-Sa`di al-Minqari).
